Why it matters
Online discoverability for doctors in Pakistan
The patient decision journey typically starts with a symptom, a condition, or a referral. They search Google — often in the form 'specialist + city + area' (e.g., 'nephrologist DHA Karachi') or 'condition + doctor + location' (e.g., 'PCOS treatment Gulberg Lahore'). The top-3 Maps results get the majority of clicks. If you're not in that top-3, most patients never see you.
Within the Maps results, patients rapidly filter by: (1) review count and rating, (2) how recent the latest review is, (3) whether the profile is complete (hours, photos, services listed), and (4) whether the clinic is close to them. In under 20 seconds, they've usually narrowed to 1–2 options. Then they click through to your full profile or website — and this is where your detailed content, credentials, and trust signals do the conversion work.
The final step before booking is usually one of: clicking to call, opening Maps directions to confirm location, or visiting your website. A website visit is high intent — a patient who clicks through to your site is close to booking. But if your site is slow, mobile-unfriendly, or doesn't immediately confirm you're the right doctor for them, they back out and call your competitor.
